Youth empowerment and internet fraud

In Nigeria, the larger percentage of youths are wallowing in poverty. Some graduates of universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, among other institutions, remain jobless long after graduation. Consequently, they find it difficult to cater for their needs.

Thus, some of them have resorted devious means in order to survive. Some have committed suicide as a result of depression. Some have taken to cybercrime, which is popularly known as yahoo-yahoo.

Internet fraud is defined by Wikipedia as “the type of cybercrime fraud or deception which makes use of the internet and could involve hiding of information or providing incorrect information for the purpose of tricking victims out of money, property or inheritance”.

It’s therefore incumbent on the President Muhammadu Buhari government to try as much as possible to empower the youths.

Doing this will reduce the menace of cybercrime and redeem Nigeria’s image in the international community.
