Yobe LG chairman sinks 46 solar-powered boreholes in 10 wards

TheChairman of the l Caretaker Management  Committee of  Burasari Local Government Area of Yobe State, Alhaji  Lawan Bukar  Guba, has disclosed that his administration has sunk 46 solar-powered boreholes across the 10 wards of the council.

Guba in a statement issued on Sunday and a copy obtained by Blueprint in Abuja,  who also noted that 16 old boreholes had been converted to modern ones,  said the idea was to make water accessible to all residents of the local government area.

He said under the leadership of the Yobe State Governor,  Mai Mala Buni,  the local governments in the state have embarked on people-oriented programmes such as empowerment programmes for the less privileged and the orphanage, and employment of the youth.

Guba said: “Since the assumption of His Excellency,  Mai Mala Buni in  2019 after his predecessor and the current Minister of Police Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim Gaidam, has achieved people-oriented programmes such as empowerment programmes for the less privileged and the orphanage, and the employment of the youth in Bursari Local Government Area Council inclusive.

“Also, we have achieved quality access to quality health facilities in the urban and suburban areas, with the availability of drugs in our dispensaries, and health care centres to forestall any outbreak of diseases.

“We have also renovated and provided boreholes in towns and villages/ wards within Bursari Local Government Area Council and the other 17 area councils in the state under the renewal hope agenda of His Excellency.

“Provision of quality and portable water supply through the drilling of new boreholes and repairs and maintenance of the existing ones. About 46 boreholes using Solar panels energy from the sun in 10 wards and the conversation of 16 boreholes into modern ones respectively”.

On security,  he said: “We and the stakeholders have been able to settle disputes between herders and Fulani in our communities in Burasari area council in line with His Excellency’s vision statement of protecting lives and properties of my people, this we achieved through our former chairman and currently our member representing Bursari at the  State House of Assembly, Hon. Zannah Baba Dalami.

“We have also procured security vehicles and gadgets for security agencies to secure the lives and properties of the people by having regular meetings with the heads of security agencies in the council.

“His Excellency Mai Mala Buni has constructed ultra-modern Markets in six Area councils of the state including Bursari Area Council, the Bursari market can accommodate 30,000 people and also constructed a cattle market at Alkali which can accommodate up to 30,000 cattle to boost trading and businesses in the area.”
