Niger: Etsu Nupe lauds Bago over N976m Ramadan feeding, palliatives

The Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has commended the Niger government for earmaking N976 million for the establishment of the breaking of fasting feeding centres and the distribution of palliatives in this holy month of Ramadan across the eight emirate councils of the state.

The Etsu Nupe, represented by the Gafaka Nupe, Alhaji Abdullahi Umaru-Baban Nachi, made the commendation during the official flag-off of the exercise for the 11 wards in Mokwa local government area on Sunday.

Alhaji Abubakar said that the gesture could not come at a better time than now when Nigerians were facing various challenges, including the economic hardship.

The royal father, who is the Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, said Governor Bago’s gesture would go a long way in alleviating the suffering of the people.

The Etsu Nupe added that the month of Ramadan was the most auspicious for wealthy individuals, government and corporate organisations to extend their support to the less privileged.

He, therefore, urged those in charge of managing the centres and the distribution of the palliatives to do so with piety.

According to Etsu Nupe, those who are given the mandate of preparing items for breaking of the fast and sharing of the palliates should do so with absolute fear of Almighty Allah and remember the day of reckoning.

The traditional ruler also appealed to Muslim Ummah to use the Ramadan period to pray for the peace, unity and economic prosperity of Niger state and Nigeria in general.
