We have petrol in stock to last for 30 days – NNPC Ltd

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) says it has Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in stock that is sufficient to serve Nigerians for more than 30 days.

Executive Vice President Business Services Inuwa Danladi, stated this Tuesday during a sensitization worship organized by Tedran Consulting for Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) on the current status of the NNPC Ltd.

He attributed the current queues in filling stations in some parts of the country to diversion of products to neighbouring countries, logistic challenges and the attitudes of some marketers.

“Yes, we have some challenges in the country, you could see that we have some queues in some states of the federation. Those queues are not as a result of the supply of the petroleum products. I can assure you and I am telling you authoritatively that we have more than 30 days sufficiency in the country.

“What is responsible for what we are seeing in our filling stations, number one is prize arbitrage. We are all aware that we are supposed to be selling less than N200. If you look at all our neighboring countries, they sell petroleum products from 500 and above. In fact in some countries it is up to N700,” he said.

Speaking, President General of “the Natives”, a coalition of CSOs, said they are working to address sabotage in the oil sector.

“What we want is openness and accountability in the oil sector. Over 100 CSOs that have written one thing or the other and have protested against the NNPCL are here today. We are rising against sabotage. We want to move from protest to participation,” he said.
