Vemard Africa FC reserves 60% of team members to Anambra players


The Chairman, Vemard Africa FC, Nanka, Mr Chidi Okonkwo, has said that the club would reserve 60 per cent of its team members to talented players from Anambra, its home-based state.


Okonkwo, in an interaction with newsmen at Nanka, Orumba North LGA, explained that the 60 per cent quota for Anambra youths was because the club was targeted at discovering, nurturing and exposing budding football talents from the state to national and international opportunities.


According to him, Vemard had strong affiliation with Athletico Madrid of Spain, Monaco and Lille and would play in the Nigeria National League in the 2020/2021 season.
“It is our common project and I want to say that 60 per cent of the space will be filled by talented Anambra footballers. We have records of success in Enugu since our four years of existence and it is our target to surpass those records here in Anambra,” he added.


Blueprint learnt that the club which has existed for over four years in Enugu, shall be officially unveiled to the state in a novelty match with Enyimba International FC of Aba at NEROS Stadium Nanka on Friday February 14, an event to be graced by former Super Eagles players, Taribo West and Victor Ikpeba, among other international soccer stars and affiliates of the club, partners and fans. 


On his part, the Coach of the club, Mr Austin Chinwendu, called for maximum support from the football community in the state, assuring that selection of the players’ would be based on merit.
