Vaccination ‘ll boost livestock production – Buni

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has said that regular animal
vaccination and feed will not only boost livestock production but
improve the health condition of people in the state.
Buni stated this Wednesday when state officials of Miyetti Allah
Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) paid him a courtesy visit at the
Government House, Damaturu.

He said: “Regular animal vaccination and feed will not only boost livestock production but improve the health condition of people in the state. We will sustain the provision of vaccine and animal feed for livestock farmers across the state.

“We will also ensure that more cattle routes are demarcated to provide
permanent solution to herders/farmers conflict across the state,” he
said.

He commended the association for their role in peaceful coexistence
between farmers and herders in the state, while calling on them to
sustain the tempo adding that no meaningful development could be achieved without peace.

Secretary of MACBAN, Baba Usman  Ngelzarma who led the
state officials on the visit  stated that for the past three years,
over N300 billion has been spent as intervention for crop farmers with
no allocation to livestock production in the country.

“With the ban of the importation of farm wine, the central bank has
released N30 billion for farm wine producers to invest. Why shouldn’t
government spend money on livestock farmers?” he asked.
