U20 AFCON: Flying Eagles star Daga out

Flying Eagles star midfielder Daniel Daga has been ruled out of the rest of the U20 AFCON in Egypt after scans showed a knee injury will sideline him for at least four weeks.

This means he will not be available for selection when Nigeria take on Gambia on Monday evening in Cairo for a place in the final of the U20 AFCON.

A top team official informed: “Daga is out of the rest of the tournament.

“He will be sidelined for at least four weeks.”

Daga injured his knee in the opening Group A match against Senegal.

There were hopes he could return to action by the knockout rounds of the tournament, but these hopes have since been dashed.

The Dakkada FC defensive midfielder was one of the stars when the Flying Eagles topped the qualifying tournament for the U20 AFCON last year.

He bagged two Man of the Match Award.

His absence in Egypt has been sorely missed by the Flying Eagles midfield, which has lacked creativity and purpose. (ScoreNigeria.com)
