Tola Odeyemi assumes office as Postmaster General amid protest

The new Postmaster General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer, Miss Tola Odeyemi, has assumed duty at the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) Corporate Headquarters in Abuja  with a pledge to build on the legacy of her predecessors to advance the postal organization into its rightful position both locally and globally.

She said she would leverage on  technology to make NIPOST logistics, e-Commerce, and other postal services reliable, efficient, and effective.

Blueprint reports that employees of NIPOST had earlier in the morning staged a protest at the service’s headquarters in Abuja, expressing their discontent with her appointment.

 In her remarks Odeyemi said ‘’The essence of every administration lies in the ability to ensure continuity, while staying focus to its core values and mandate, why striving to maximize its potentials, and adopting to change and involving commitment’’.

 ‘’ NIPOST has a legacy that was forged by hard work, vision of those before me, and posterity will be indeed kind to them’’.

 ‘’ As I assume this role, I came to build on the commendable work of my predecessors, my aspirations are not only to solidify NIPOST status as one of the leading Postal Operators in the world, but to critically commence to build trade and make NIPOST thee- commerce and logistics hub in the world by providing postal services that meet the needs of Nigerians ,irrespective of the location’’.

The Postmaster General expressed her profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting her with the duty of Postmaster General of the federation, “A national assignment that she holds dear to her heart,’’ she said.
