There will be no hide and seek at security meeting – Nyako

Adamawa state Governor, Rear Admiral Murtala Nyako (rtd.), yesterday said there will be no hide and seek at today’s meeting of National Security Council postponed to this morning.
Nyako said he will bare his mind openly and bluntly and will not be coerce in changing his belief on the reality of the insecurity, his state, Borno and Yobe are facing.

In an interview with BBC Hausa monitored in Kaduna, Nyako, who was once Chief of Naval Staff and as Deputy Chief of Defence Staff, said, “We don’t know why they called us for the meeting but whatever it is, we are ready and it is not matter of fear. It is a most that everyone must be allowed to stand and talk. There will be no hide and seek. It is a well known fact that there is not all through military action in tackling insurgency except in some cases. Secondly, the way and manner they are managing the insurgency has led to the killing of more innocent people. The killing of Boko Haram has never gotten to this level, that is if it Boko Haram and it is not them that planted this menace.”

Nyako further argued that development and sound upbringing will help check the insurgency said, “Have you ever heard of any Adamawa state indigene caught because he is part of Boko Haram? There are values that society holds that will not make children derail. Fight poverty, bring development, expand education and let us have qualitative education and see what will happen. But you bring in soldiers, killing innocent people, using helicopter and killing us the more.”
