SURE-P to deploy GIS in projects monitoring

SURE-PThe Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) is to deploy Geographical Information System (GIS), management information system (MIS) and other information communication technologies (ICTs) to ensure the effective and efficient monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of its projects in the country.

SURE-P has also resolved to make public, date generated during the process.The resolution, among others was reached after a three-day monitoring and evaluation workshop retreat for the programme held recently.
Riding on the prevalence of ICT in public service delivery, it was also agreed that the SURE-P and National Planning Commission (NPC) should collaborative with the public information unit (PIU) at the federal ministry of Information for effective dissemination of SURE-P programmes and achievements to the Nigerian public.

“In order to strengthen the M&E Framework, PIU directors will report monthly to SURE-P on their programmes and projects. The reporting process will draw extensively from the partnership between the PIUs and the respective NPC M&E embedded personnel domiciled in the PIUs,” the communiqué bearing the recommendations noted.

Earlier, the coordinator of programmes operations at SURE-P, Engr. Ali Fatoma, hinted on the need for the officers to remain steadfast in delivering on their projects with integrity and transparency to ensure that the long term results will meet the expectations and satisfaction of the constituting authorities and the service users.
Secretary to the National Planning Commission, Mr. NtufamUgbo, who spoke at the closing of the workshop, reiterated that a lot would be achieved through SURE-P’s partnership with the NPC and federal ministry of Information.
“We are not yet where we should be but we are certainly not where we used to be. The Transformation Train is moving and we need to move with it”, the NPC Secretary stated.
