Supreme Court verdict: Sokoto gov seeks opposition parties’ cooperation 

The Sokoto state governor, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu has called on the opposition political parties to sheathe their swords and join him in moving the state forward.

The governor stated this after the Supreme Court affirmed him as the elected governor of the state in Abuja.

Governor Aliyu said this to a team of lawyers led by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Dr Hassan Liman, who came to congratulate him on his victory. 

The governor said: ‘Since  the court cases are over, I want to call on all the opposition parties to forget their differences and join me in moving the state forward’.

The governor stated  that the victory was for the good people of Sokoto state, stakeholders and the  party APC.

Governor Aliyu said he was satisfied with the judiciary hence it stands as the last hope of the common  man.

He sated that the will of the the people was preserved by the apex court which was a great success.

According to him, with the affirmation of the people’s mandate by the apex court  will translate to greater development in the state his administration  will now focus on good governance.

He, therefore, called on opposition parties to join him in translating the victor into development for the interest of the state.

Governor Aliyu also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko and the entire APC members for their support and fatherly role played during and after the elections.

The governor said he personally owed them and the people of the state gratitude.

He noted that this is the time to work and all hands must be on deck to transform Sokoto state to the greatest height.
