Supreme Court: APC chieftain hails Tinubu, justices, urges inclusive governance

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has commended the Supreme Court judgements over the governorship cases of some states last Friday, noting that the verdicts sent signals that the apex court is committed to redeeming its image and restore hope to the polity.

In a statement made available to journalists in Port Harcourt, Tuesday,  Eze restated that Nigerians lost had hope in the judiciary, especially the Supreme Court, after its handling of the 2023 presidential election appeals where Nigerians’ public confidence was dashed.

He, however, noted that after a keen observation of some of the judgements, especially on Kano, Plateau and Zamfara states, which were erroneously decided by the Appeal Court, the Supreme Court was now right in the track to redeeming itself.

The statement said “by their judgements on Kano, Plateau and Zamfara states, the apex court has not only rescued itself from the abyss before  the12th January, 2024 judgements but has saved this nation from the calamitous situation she would have faced in those states, had the judgements been the other way round.”

Eze said he was relieved particularly over the judgements on Kano and Plateau states, which he said had restored the confidence of many Nigerians.

“Let me also use this opportunity to celebrate with the good people of Adamawa, Benue, Akwa Ibom, Lagos, Kano, Zamfara, Ebonyi, Plateau, Abia, Cross River, and Bauchi for their victories and pray each of the governors to go back and implement programmes and projects that will restore public confidence in government,” Eze added.

The APC chief also commended President Tinubu for his steadfastness and non-interference in the rulings and urged Nigerians to bury their differences and team up with the governments of the day to build the nation every citizen would be proud of.
