Cost of food: Fear God, businessman appeals to Sokoto traders

A businessman in Sokoto state, Alhaji Sani Maidarduma, weekend, appealed to traders, especially foodstuff sellers, to fear God and show compassion on the plight of common man by reducing the cost of their items.

Alhaji Sani, who made the appeal while speaking to journalists in Sokoto, said life is becoming unbearable for the common man due to the soaring cost of food items.

He lamented that an average Nigerian either in public or private sector is living in a state of quandary because his daily income would not in any way be sufficient to feed  his family.

Speaking on the state government’s programmes on youth development, Sani who is also a Hakimin Shiyar Tsamiyar dila, advised Nigerian youth to avail themselves the opportunity offered by the program aimed to improve their living standard.

He said skills acquisition is the most effective way to accommodate the teeming youth and reduce crime rate in the society.

Alhaji Sani noted that Sokoto state is a civil service state with moribund ailing industries scattered across the state capital.

He called on the government and wealthy people in the state to device a way to cater for the thousands of school dropout and those who finished secondary education but did not go further.
