Sunshine, 3SC, Plateau players make cash donations to families of late colleagues

Players of Sunshine Stars, Akure and Plateau United of Jos, have responded to the passionate appeal made by the President of National Association of Nigerian Professional Footballers (NANPF), Tijani Babangida, MON, by making financial contributions to the families of some of their late colleagues.

Earlier in February, this year, the players’ union president had appealed to all professional players in the NPFL and NNL through the club captains to give financial assistance to the families of their late colleagues, namely Chinedu Udoji, Izu Joseph and Uzama Douglas, who plied their trades with Kano Pillars, 3SC and Gombe United, respectively, as a mark of solidarity.

A statement released by the foremost players union, confirmed that undisclosed amount of money was raised by the combined efforts of Sunshine Stars and 3SC players, which was complimented by the captain of Plateau United, Golbe Elisha, who is also the 2nd vice president of the union.

The monies collected has been shared and sent to the three families by the Assistant Coordinator of the clubs Captains forum of NANPF, Abe Sunday, who is also Chairman of the union in Ondo state, and Captain of Sunshine Stars FC.

The union commended the efforts of the captains of Sunshine Stars and 3SC, and their players for their unflinching support and show of solidarity to the families of their late colleagues with the contributions.
