Two thousand six hundred and twenty six candidates secured admission into the Sokoto State University (SSU) for the 2023/ 2024 academic session, vice chancellor of the university, Professor Bashir Garba, has said.
He stated this while speaking at the matriculation ceremony held at the convocation ground of the university and said the university received 4,927 applications for under graduates but only 2,626 were able to gain admission into different programmes.
He said 394 and 225 candidates for postgraduate were also admitted into the university for 2022/ 2023 and 2023 / 2024 academic sessions respectively.
The vice chancellor told the gathering that the post graduate program started between 2022 / 2023 with 39 students for Master and PhD degrees.
He said the pioneer students had already completed their first year while the second set had just been admitted.
The vice chancellor underscore the significance of the event, stating that it provides opportunity to the new students to take oath of allegiance to the university.
Professor Bashir charged new students to focus and pay attention to their studies so that at end of the program, their parents and the university would be proud of them.
