Sokoto varsity admits 4, 024 students for 2013/ 2014 session

The Usman Danfodio University Sokoto (UDUS) has matriculated  4,024 students comprising of Direct Entry and Unified Tertiary Matriculation for the  2013/ 2014 academic session.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof.  Riskuwa Shehu Arabu, disclosed this at this year’s matriculation ceremony held yesterday.

He said as a result of the university’s track record of excellence, every year it records an increase in number of applicants seeking admission in the institution.
According to him, currently the university has grown to about 16,000 students, excluding non-degree students in 11 faculties and the post-graduate school.
“In this academic session, out of the 9, 000 applicants that sat for screening examination, through UTME and Direct Entry, only 4,024 are being matriculated,” he said.

He enjoined the students to continue to be of good behaviour and to steer clear of extremism and intolerance in ethnic and religious matters, saying that those were the vices that were posing major threats to the country.

He advised the matriculating students to consider the oath they had taken as a potent instrument of social control injected in them, help them to develop self discipline and resistance against indulging in undesirable behaviour and practices
