Shinkafi tasks water ministry staff on hard work

The new Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, Aliyu Shinkafi, has tasked the directors and staff on hard work, productivity and cooperation.

Shinkafi who officially resumed at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja recently, also commended his predecessor, Didi Walson-Jack, for laying what he described as a sound foundation which he will build upon.

He said: “My predecessor who I am sure has laid a very sound foundation for me to leverage on what I want to extend to those here, especially the directors, even though the Permanent Secretary has given you a clean slate but my style is, anybody that works is my friend. If you work you are my friend and if you do not work forget, and you don’t get anything.

“I don’t have any friends but those that work are my friends because we have deliverables to deliver to the people, and on that note, I solicit for cooperation because there is nothing like cooperation, and if we cooperate we achieve our targets and everybody is happy at the end of the day and we deliver on the mandate the Ministry is tasked upon.”

Meanwhile, the new Permanent Secretary promised to continue with the work and achievements of his predecessor, Didi Walson-Jack and also solicited support and cooperation from the directors and other staff of the Ministry in order to deliver the mandate of the Ministry to Nigerians.

“On this note, I am not going to deviate from what my predecessor has been working on, most especially, the mandate of the Ministry in the areas of water infrastructure development, sanitation programmes, community engagement, partnerships, innovation and technology.

“So I solicit

for cooperation and I hope that cooperation will be forthcoming because without your cooperation I would not be able to achieve anything here, and I know at the end of the day things will work well”, he added.

Earlier, the out-gone Permanent Secretary of Water Resources and Sanitation, Didi Walson-Jack, in her handover speech commended the support of the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr Joseph Utsev and the Minister of State, Bello Goronyo, and former Minister of Water Resources, Engr Suleiman Adamu along with the staff for the uncommon support and cooperation given to her.

“I am confident that the Ministry will reach new heights of success under your leadership.

“There is a time and a season for everything under the sun. With the redeployments, my tour of duty at the Ministry of Water Resources & Sanitation has come to an end.

“I express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your unwavering support, dedication, and hard work. Together, we faced challenges, celebrated victories, and worked tirelessly. Your commitment to our shared mission was nothing short of inspiring,” she said
