Senate minority leader, Northern senators, Echocho felicitate with Muslims

As Muslims across the world celebrated Eid-el-Fitr Wednesday after 30 days of fasting, the Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro, Northern Senators ‘Forum and Senator Jibrin Isah, felicitated with them on the auspicious occasion.

In separate goodwill messages, the senators admonished Muslims to be guided always by the attributes and lessons from the life and times of Holy Prophet Mohammed (SAW), which symbolised holiness, peace, love and tolerance.

Specifically, Senator Abba Moro in his goodwill message, urged Muslims to use the occasion to pray for peace and security in the senatorial district and Nigeria at large. He enjoins them to also use the occasion to reach out to the less-privileged in the society.

He also called on religious leaders in the country to continue to preach peace and unity to their followers and display love towards one another.

The Northern Senators Forum in a statement signed by its chairman, Senator Abdulaziz Yar’Adua, urged Muslims to let the lessons of Ramadan reflect in their conducts and interaction with other Nigerians.

“Let us persist in our endeavors to foster a peaceful and cohesive society that cherishes the principles of liberty, human dignity, and prosperity for all.

“It is incumbent upon us collectively to offer prayers for our dear President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the leadership of our nation at every echelon as we strive to enhance our national fortunes and uplift the standard of living for all Nigerians.

“As we transit from the holy month of Ramadan, let us embody the virtues that we have cultivated during this period.

“Let us emulate the spirit of brotherhood, extend individual and communal support, contribute to nation-building, offer prayers for the welfare of our country and its leadership, abide by the laws of the land, and uphold exemplary conduct and the overarching values of Ramadan.

“Furthermore, let us be reminded of our collective obligation to combat injustice, immorality, unfairness, corruption, and inequality.

“Let us champion justice, patriotism, and dignity in all our pursuits. Remember, no situation lasts forever, and by fulfilling our respective roles effectively, we can propel our nation towards a brighter future,” he said.

Senator Jibrin Isah, popularly known as Echocho, urged Muslims to celebrate the Sallah in love, and unity across all communities.

He tasked Muslims to extend the lessons of Ramadan to their daily lives and their relationship with their neighbours.

“Let’s seek peace at all times and promote unity of purpose in our society,” he said.
