Sanwo-Olu approves N1bn car loan for Lagos civil servants 





The Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has increased car refurbishment loan for  civil servants in the state by as much as 900 per cent as he approved the sum of N1 billion car refurbishment loan to staff of the state government.


While increment for civil servants between levels 14 to 17 rose by 900 per cent, that for civil servants between levels 7 and 13 went up by 257.14 per cent and those in lower wrung of between levels one and six increased by 233.33%.


The N1 billion loan which  was an improvement on the N100 million loan which has been in existence from the tenure of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, when he was the governor of the state.


Sanwo-Olu approved and signed the increment Tuesday  at the swearing-in of the new Head of Service, Olabode Shuaib Agoro, as the 22nd Head of Service in the state.


Agoro replaced Hakeem Muri-Okunola who resigned as the HOS following his appointment as the Principal Secretary to the President.


The loan increment cut across all levels of the work force. For those in level 14 to 17, the loan was increased from N100, 000 to N500,000, level 7 to 13 increased from N70,000 to N250,000 while those in level 1 to 6 have theirs  increased from N30,000 to N100,000.


Governor Sanwo-Olu, while making the announcement said the state will consider increasing the salary of its workers once the federal government implements its recently announced additional N25, 000 and N35,000 to the salary of   junior and senior staff of the federal government.


The governor said the new HoS  will deliver and build on what his predecessor had done. Sanwo-Olu noted that Agoro has the capacity to lead the Lagos state civil service, adding that his dedication to work in all the ministries he had worked was remarkable.
