Rohr to represent Nigeria at Qatar 2022 draws Jan 21

Super Eagles gaffer, Gernot Rohr is expected to represent Nigeria during the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers’ draws in Cairo, Egypt on January 21.
Eagles Media Officer, Toyin Ibitoye disclosed this during a Radio Programme monitored in Abuja.


He said contrary to reports in the news that Rohr wants to dump the Nigerian national team, the Franco-German tactician will be back in the country before a fortnight.
Ibitoye insisted that Rohr still loves the Eagles and is ready to take the squad through the World Cup qualifiers, hence his impending arrival in two weeks and is set to hold talks with the top brass of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), who are already putting final touches to a new contract for the gaffer.


Heading into this month’s World Cup draw, Nigeria are one of the seeded teams and have been placed in Pot One, while action will begin in March, ahead of which Ibitoye revealed that Rohr is expected to make plans for the upcoming matches, after he attends the ceremony on January 21.


Ibitoye said : “We expect Rohr to come back to Nigeria say in two weeks, all things being equal. He will be meeting with the Nigeria Football Federation. In the third week of January, the draws for the second round of qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup will hold.


“There are plans for him to be at the draws in Egypt. That’s the next agenda, and March is not too far away. Rohr is coming back. The World Cup qualifiers will start in March so we have to be united, focused; ensure that we have no distractions because we have to approach the World Cup qualifiers with all the seriousness that it deserves,” he concluded.
