Recall lawmakers that supported confirmation of LGA caretaker committees—Anambra APC

The Anambra state chapter of All Progressive Congress (APC) has urged electorate to quickly commence recalling of all the lawmakers that participated in approving 21 LGA Transition Committee (TC) Chairmen and over 300 members.

The state House of Assembly led by Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor , had last week Thursday confirmed 18 TC Chairmen out of 21 and members appointed by Governor Willie Obiano. The lawmakers later reconvened on Friday to confirm the remaining three members following intervention of Obiano.

Reacting, the state Publicity Secretary of APC,  Arch. Okelo Madukaife, said that constituting a caretaker violates Section 7(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) which according to him, has been interpreted severally by the Supreme Court as inviolable.

He said it was also against the will of Anambra state populace, who he said have been longing and craving for LG elections, as well as contrary to a protest letter all political parties in the state under the aegis of  Inter- Party Advisory Council ( IPAC), sent to the Assembly and the state government requesting constitution of the board of Anambra Independent State Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) for onward conduct of Council poll.

“Anambra State voters should recall any legislator that indulges in this caretaker business in the LGs alongside the unpopular outgoing governor of the state who feels insecure working with custodians of their peoples mandate. We urge that whoever emerged from the two- day rubber stamping under reference  should not be recognised in connection with leadership of the LGs.

“We urge the Interparty Advisory Council (IPAC ) to press the next button in the unrelenting search for the emancipation of Anambra State from yesterday’s criteria for leadership emergence and open a new vista, for a state now living behind the dream of its forebears,” APC scribe added.
