RATTAWU seeks NTA collaboration on capacity building

Radio, Television, Theatre, and Art Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) is seeking partnership with the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) to build members’ capacity to ensure enhanced productivity at the workplace.

RATTAWU National President Kabir Garba during a courtesy visit to NTA Director-General Mallam Yakubu IBN Mohammed in Abuja.

“As regard capacity building and enhanced productivity, training is a vital tool. A sector such as ours requires regular training and retraining of staff to attune them to the realities of the job. This exercise should always be given top priority.

“This is why the core mandate of RATTAWU is the training of her members in various capacities locally and even internationally through our international affiliates. The union will therefore be willing to partner with NTA in this regard for better service delivery,” the union leader said.

On members’ welfare, the RATTAWU boss urged the NTA management to as a matter of urgency, address the issue of non-payment of relocation allowance to staff as well as parting gifts to retired staff irrespective of grade.

The president further warned against transfer of union executives within their tenure, adding such practice affects the smooth running of the union activities.

Responding, NTA Director-General IBN Mohammed urged the union to ensure amicable resolution of its internal wrangling in the interest of peace and stability.
