Ramadan: Group preaches unity, peace in Gombe

A Non-Governmental Organisation, Gombe Peace Project has urged Muslim in the state to use the holy month of Ramadan to pray fervently for continued unity, peaceful coexistence and development of the state.

 The chairman of the group Ahmad Megam stated this during a press briefing in Gombe.

He said that peace is an important element and foundation of societal growth and prosperity noting that for tranquility to continue to reign amongst the citizens.

 “We must make necessary sacrifice and take seriously the admonition of religious leaders to uphold the bond of unity, good neighbourliness and compassion.

 “We regretted that the recent crisis was threatening the peace in view of that we would meet with major stakeholders in the state and engage all aggrieved person to ensure that issues of bitterness were addressed through dialogue,” he said.

According to him, already, the effort of the group in meeting different religious group and house to house outreach has helped in dousing tension.

 He urged Journalists and media organisation to put more effort on fight against fake news, adding that there should be self-censorship before reporting crisis in any society.
