Former speaker of the house of Representatives Hon. Yakubu Dogara on Saturday distributed 3, 200 bags of rice, 3, 200 bags of maize flour, 100 bags of sugar and 600 cartons of spaghetti to his constituents in Dass, Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro local governments of Bauchi state.
The political associate to the former speaker Hon. Aminu Tukur who flagged off the distribution in Bauchi explained that the gesture was meant to assist the needy in the three local governments in this fasting month of Ramadan.
According to him, Muslims faithful who fast would get 60 per cent of the share while their Christians brothers would go with the remaining 40 per cent.
He assured that the food stuffs would be given to the right beneficiaries as trusted persons have been selected from each of the local governments to share them.
“These are gifts from Honourable Yakubu Dogara for muslims and Christians in Dass, Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa local governments federal constituency. He usually donates such items every fasting period with a view to bringing succour to his people.
“Trusted persons have been selected to distribute the items in all the three local government areas to avoid diversion of the items by selfish individuals.” He stated.
Responding, some of the beneficiaries Dr Yakubu Yahya from Bogoro, Ga Allah Daniel from Tafawa Balewa and Ya’u Yusuf from Dass local governments expressed appreciation to Dogara for the gesture saying it was timely.
