Nwifuru berates aides for losing Naval slot

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi state Sunday frowned at the inability of his principal officers to secure the Naval education slot given to the state.

The Governor noted that the 10 slot given to Ebonyi state were lost due to superiority battle between his aides who were supposed to be the engine room of his administration.

Nwifuru disclosed this during State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Abakaliki ,the state capital.

The meeting was organized by the state APC Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha.

Governor Nwifuru however highlighted the areas where his government was doing well and said that those aides from other parts of the state were helping his government to succeed.

He said, “In our party we should be straight and truthful, I am not talking of where someone is from, those that are helping me are not from Ebonyi North and I am from Ebonyi North zone of the state. I have commissioners from Ebonyi North manning good ministries but none of them can get up and say that they have performed above average.

“That has taught me that one’s you are a leader you don’t take side, at the point of assigning portfolio a lot of people approached me said your Excellency your brother this your brother that, today those my brothers are my problem.

“We lost 10 chances in Navy secondary school because those office responsible were busy fighting, and in a very good society they are supposed to be sanctioned.
I want you to look at the office not the person in the office, if another person is getting it wrong advice him,as a public servant you should be accountable”.

Further speaking on the forthcoming local government and councillorship elections in Ebonyi State slated for July this year, the governor promised not to impose any candidate on the people but rather pleaded that the council chairmen of Ikwo and Ohaozara should be allowed to go for second tenure.

“Our party Chairman came to me about three days ago and showed me the party’s itinerary for the local government elections and said to myself, that means we don’t have time again and the Chairman said yes

“This is why we fixed this meeting. I am very sorry for not giving you prior notice because this meeting came very urgent and it came very emergency because ordinarily, we supposed to have met up to three, four times to thank you for your great support and passing through challenges to elect us.

” I will not impose any candidate on the people. There are two local government Chairmen that I am seriously begging for, Ohaozara and Ikwo. My assessment of these two is face value. Their assessment will be done by their stakeholders.

“A lot of people approached me to do caretaker and I told them it doesn’t mean anything because it looks as if our party is not united”, he stated.

The meeting was attended by Chief Martin Elechi, Senator David Umahi and many other stakeholders of the state.
