Purported N12m for delegates, a ruse – Secretariat

The monthly N4million amounting to N12 million within the three months span of the national conference to be purportedly paid to delegates is a ruse after all, Blueprint authoritatively reports.

According to a senior member of the secretariat who would not want his name in print, there is no fixed amount for the delegates saying that the payments to be made to them were in three categories namely accommodation, sitting and transport allowances
The source disclosed that only accommodation allowances was compulsory as it would be paid to all delegates for the period of 90 days adding that only delegates that attend day to day sessions would receive both transport and sitting allowances.

Although the source would not disclose the amount to be paid in the various categories, he stated that it was the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation that has the duty to disclose the amount.
On the reason for the monetization of the accommodation allowance, the secretariat said it was to avoid confusion that might arise from discrepancies in the quality of hotels to be given to the delegates.

According to the source, some of the delegates already have houses in Abuja and giving them accommodation outside their houses would be a waste of time.
He called on those who earlier misinformed the public on the amount to straighten their facts at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
