Protein forum on malnutrition cycle holds Sept 10

A forum that seeks to draw attention to the urgent need and ways to empower women in the quest to break the cycle of malnutrition in Nigeria will take place on Thursday, September 10, organisers said.

It described women as key decision makers in the choice of meals for the families and affirmed that educating them to serve as champions in the fight against the scourge of malnutrition is a major step towards addressing the health challenge.

With the theme, Empowering Women To Break The Cycle of Malnutrition in Nigeria, the event is billed to hold via a webinar conference.

The organisers, the Nigeria Protein Deficiency Awareness Campaign, aka Protein Challenge, added that it aims to educate women on the need to insist on a healthy, protein-rich diet for their households with attendant effect on the community.

“Protein Challenge seeks to create wide-spread awareness about the benefits of proteins and encourage Nigerians from all walks of life to embrace regular consumption of proteins regardless of the source,” it explained further.

The protein-pull media campaign is supported by the United States Soybean Export Council (USSEC) and other partners.

Protein campaign recently unveiled the Nigeria Protein Deficiency Report.
