Post-Covid-19: Kogi Rep trains 45 persons on poultry farming

The member representing Okene/Ogori-Magongo federal constituency in Kogi state, Tijani Ahmed Damisa, has sponsored a three-day capacity building programme in poultry value-chain for 45 youth and women in the constituency.

The workshop which held at Ebira Muslims Community Secondary School  Okengwe in Okene local government area of the state  was anchored by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and  National Animal Production and Research Institute (NAPRI) ABU Zaria in collaboration with Prographix Digital Prints.

Addressing the beneficiaries at the end of the workshop, an assistant director, Extension and Linkages at NAPRI, Dr. Joshua Tanko, said: “Agriculture has a wide range of opportunities. You can produce, process and market to generate income and livelihood.

“There are many   able men and woman who are willing to work, but lack the opportunity and the financial power to accomplish their dreams, urging the beneficiaries not to handle the training with levity by selling the starters pack given to them. It is not good to disperse a small beginning,” he said.

A participant, Mrs. Abdulmalik Nene, who spoke on behalf of others, said Damisa had tried to remove many people from the shackles of poverty through numerous empowerment programmes and commended him for creating an opportunity for them to start their businesses.
