‘Poor leadership responsible for Kogi’s under-devt’

A leading aspirant in the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi state, Alhaji Suleiman Baba Ali, has identified poor leadership as the major problem affecting the growth of the state.

Ali said out of the 34 mineral resource discovered in the country, Kogi state had 22 in commercial quantities, yet the state was at the bottom of ranking of states in the area of development.
The aspirant, who is vying for the exulted position in the state under the platform of All Progressives Party (APC), stated this yesterday in Lokoja during his declaration for the governorship election slated to hold in the last quarters of this year.

He said Kogi  was blessed by God in terms of human and natural resources, adding that the inability of successive administrations to harness the opportunity was responsible for the continues decline in both infrastructure and human development.
He added that over dependent on federal allocation had derailed government  o focus on internal generated revenue, lamenting that Kogi state by virtue of its geographical location  suppose to be a tourist state for the country.

He assured the people of the state that if given the opportunity to serve, he would address issues of education, agriculture, health among other through public partnership to develop the state.
He said “during  the administration of Prince Abubakar Audu , he discovered limestone for cement  in Obajana and invited Dangote Group to invest on it and today the Obajana cement have created jobs for the state.”
