Poor info management ‘major security challenge in Nigeria’

Experts in the security industry have identified poor management of information as the major security challenges in the country.
They stressed the need for the country to have security systems that are proactive and creative in combating security breaches in the country.

A  consultant to Halogen Security Company limited, Raphael Ojo-Kadiri  who spoke on the sideline of Securex West Africa press conference in Lagos called for harmonization of operation of security agencies adding that industrial security have more men than state.

He said that security agencies in the country have not been able to hold unto information, interpret and pass it for proper management.  “I do not think we have managed information the way we should manage it”, he said.

Speaking on 2014 Securex West Africa trade show, managing director, Montgomery West Africa, Tori Abiola, said the idea is to create a space for the entire value chain of security in Nigeria.
She said there is need for capacity building and investment in security sector, adding that the trade show is targeted at both public and private sectors of the economy.
The event also will feature six in-depth seminars focusing on oil and gas, maritime and naval security, corporate security, transport infrastructure security, counter terrorism and cyber security. Attendees will have the opportunity to examine future trends, identify immediate long and short term needs and uncover up and coming technologies for use in critical areas of commercial and homeland security.
