Police smash certificate forgery syndicate

Personnel of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja, have smashed a syndicate that specialised in the forgery of WAEC and university certificates, NYSC discharge certificates and other sensitive documents.

Parading four of the suspects Emmanuel Onyehiela, Ugorji Chibueze Ramsy, Emeka Chukwu, and Abdulazeez Sadiq, at the Force headquarters, Abuja, the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Mr. Frank Mbah, said their arrest was facilitated by undercover agents who presented themselves as prospective clients.
Mba said the syndicate which had its base at the UTC Shopping Complex, Area 10, Garki, Abuja, was also found to engage in the falsification of travel documents and drivers licences amongst others.

Investigation, the police spokesperson, said further revealed that the syndicate charged fees ranging from N5, 000 to N30, 000, depending on the socio-economic status of their clients or urgency of the transaction.

He said exhibits recovered from them included forged copies of Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) documents; land documents of AMAC, University of Abuja degree certificates and official stamp; National Pension Commission Clearance Certificate; a certificate purportedly issued by the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, Badagry.
Others were statement of result of Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, Bauchi State, and Abuja Urban Mass Transport Company tickets and other sundry fake documents, as well as laptops, desktops and printers.
