Police arrests 18 suspected kidnappers, others in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa state police command has arrested 18 suspected kidnappers including three syndicate responsible for series of kidnapping in Nasarawa Eggon, Akwanga and Kokona local government areas of the state.

The command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Nansel Ramhan, disclosed this on Friday, while parading the suspects in Lafia.

He said some of the members of the syndicates include Ogani Dauda 25 years, Hamisu Ibrahim 28byears and [shaku Alhaji Ruwa 28 years.

He said that a total of 29 suspects were arrested for different crimes across the 13 local government areas of the state.

Among the suspects were 18 suspected kidnappers and armed robbers, seven rape suspects, and four suspected cultists. While four firearms, 11 ammunition and one vehicle were also recovered.

“Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to be into Kidnapping and armed robbery and were said to have Kidnapped their victims at Wulko Village, Nasarawa Eggon, behind Kini Country Guest Inn/Akwanga-Wamba bye-pass.

“Also, on 04/09/2023, Police personnel of the command acted based on credible information and arrested one Abdulraham Abubakar ‘M’ 28yrs at Gudi, Akwanga LGA,

He confessed to be member of five man syndicate of kidnappers operating at Gudi and Garaku axis and had been on the wanted list of the command for the offence of kidnapping.

“Also On 18/08/2023 at about 1430hrs, a complaint was lodged at Mararaba ‘B’ Division that two young girls betwcen the ages of 10 and Four years Ieft in the custody of one Adamu Sani ‘M’ younger brother to the complainant while the parents were out to make earns meet were raped by their uncle and warned not to inform their parents. Upon receipt of the complaint, Police operatives swung into action got the suspect arrested.

DSP Ramhan said that the fight against crime and criminality in Nasarawa state is a continuous one, thereby warn criminals in the state to turn a leaf, leave the state or face decisive defeat.
