Pipeline vandalism up by 42.9% in October — NNPC

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) says it realised about $640.35 million from the export of crude oil and gas for October, 2018.

The figure according to the corporation in its Monthly Financial and Operations Report for October 2018, the amount is higher than the $527.70 million earned in September 2018.

A breakdown of the figure showed that $450.44 million was from crude oil sale, with gas and miscellaneous receipts standing at about $173.92 million and $15.99 million respectively.

In the downstream sector, the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC), a downstream subsidiary of NNPC, recorded revenue receipt of ₦231.33billion from sales of white products in the month of October 2018, compared with ₦150.25 billion sold in of September 2018.

Also, the report showed that incidences of pipeline vandalism continued to rise.

According to the state run oil corporation, its pipeline network suffered a 42.9 percent increase in the incidents of vandalism as at October 2018, compared to the previous month.

The NNPC revealed that it recorded 219 pipeline vandalised points in the month under review, compared to 125 incidents in September of the same year.

It report further explained that four vandalized pipeline points were not repaired, while one point ruptured.

Cases of vandalism of pipeline facilities were high along Ibadan-Ilorin and Aba-Enugu axis, which accounted for 81 (40 percent) and 39 (18 percent) vandalized points respectively, the report noted.

The Corporation assured that in spite of increasing cases of pipeline vandalism, it would not be deter in its bid to ensure that there is adequate supply of petrol.
