Pam Gyang fit to replace Lalong as Plateau minister

“I will prepare well and someday my time will surely come” -Abraham Lincoln.

This immortal words of Abraham Lincoln the 16th president of the United States of America fits into the unique personality of Architech Pam D. Gyang, a consummate grassroots politician in Plateau state, astute administrator, strategic thinker, team player as well as core technocrat whose pedigree and antecedents have helped in galvanising good governance on the Plateau and Nigeria as a whole.

Interestingly, Pam D. Gyang hails from Gassa in Ropp district, Barakin-Ladi local government area of Plateau state. His education sojourn started at (S.U.M) Sudan United Mission Boys Secondary School, Gindiri, Plateau state. To the glory of God, in 1966 he passed his West African Examination Council (WAEC) examinations with flying colours. In his quest for higher education, having realised education is the greatest weapon, which we can use to change the world, in 1971, he did his HSC. He proceeded to the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria, in Kaduna state where he bagged his BSc in architecture in 1976 and MSc in architecture in 1978 with distinction.

Relatedly, Architech Pam Dung Gyang is a member of the Nigerian institute of Architects, NIA, after sitting for and passed the professional examination of the institute in 1980. He became a registered member of the institute with the registration number M/405. He served his mandatory NYSC scheme from 1978 to 1979 at Imo State Housing Corporation. Moreso, Anatole France once posited “to accomplish great things in life, we must dream it, as well as act on it”, Pam Dung Gyang in his greater service to his father land, worked at the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing on 19th February 1987 to 20th November 2002.

To the glory of God. Architect Gyang served as the coordinating chairman of Federal Government Prototype Housing Scheme, saddled with the responsibility of delivering various types of houses that have been sold to the public in different parts of the country i.e Five Estates in Lagos as well as Five Estates in Abuja which comprise over 1,000One housing units at Port-Harcourt, Kaduna, Jos and Lafia.

Be it as it may, J.F Kennedy, foremost American president, once said, “Think of what you can do for your country and not what your country will do for you”.  On retirement from public service after immeasurable contributions to nation building, Gyang went into partisan politics in order to serve his amiable people in Plateau state. He contested for governorship election in 2007 in Plateau state.

Interestingly, he ran for governorship on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN. After the protracted crisis in the then PDP, he was later was chosen as deputy governorship candidate of Labour Party in 2011, aimed at yielding to popular call from his Plateau people, to contribute his quota to the overall development of the state.

Pam Dung Gyang ,as a true party man, was the Director-General Buhari-Lalong-Tydden campaign organisation, patron of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in Plateau state. And to the glory of God the organisation worked for the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu/Shettima as President and Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, respectively.

Conclusively, there is a familiar aphorism which says “many are called, but few are chosen”. With the stage set by President Tinubu to replace Senator (Dr) Simon Bako Lalong, who resigned from the cabinet as the minister of labour, I have no doubt that bringing Arch. Pam Dung Gyang, as the next Honourable Minister from Plateau state, would add value to Tinubu’s Presidency. This is in view of his wealth of experience, exposure, his love for national unity and integration as well as a great team player and above all a peace maker.
