Oparanozie, Ordega assure on AWC

Super Falcons attacking duo, Desire Oparanozie and Francisca Ordega, have given their strong words to help the six-time African champions reclaim the Africa Women’s Championship (AWC) title in Namibia.
The two strikers, who arrived at the side’s Abuja camp late on Tuesday from their Europe-based clubs, were delight to watch in the side’s Wednesday training at the FIFA Goal Project ground.

An official of the Falcons, Gracious Akujobi said the duo were simply awesome in training and promised to bring their wealth of experience to bear towards ensuring that the Super Falcons head to the 2015 Fifa Women’s World Cup in Canada as African champions.
“Oparanozie and Ordega were simply awesome in today’s (Wednesday’s) morning training and appeared instant hits to justify the coaches’ confidence and justification for their inclusion in the Africa Women’s Championship squad in absentia.
“We’re excited with the value they’ve shown to bring into the team to compliment the values of the domestic players.
“Of course, their experiences are there for everyone to see and it’s something you can’t dream of purchasing at the market place.
“Ordega was the happiest of the lot to be available for this year’s AWC as she was conspicuously absent from the 2012 edition in Equatorial Guinea as her Swedish club, Pitea IF, bluntly refused to release her for the assignment.
“Oparanozie, too missed the 2012 edition of the biennial football showpiece due to tight club’s commitment.
“The duo insisted that they’re ready to help the side win the AWC title for a record seventh time in Namibia,” said Akujobi to supersport.com.

Akujobi said the other foreign-based trio, Perpetua Nkwocha, Onome Ebi and Esther Sunday are expected into the side’s camp on Wednesday night.
The eight-team topflight Africa championship is due to commence from October 11 to 24 in Namibia.
Nigeria are pitched in Group A with hosts, Namibia, Ivory Coast and Zambia. The three teams that finish in first, second and third places will qualify to represent Africa at the Fifa Women’s World Cup in Canada next year.
