Only restructuring can save Nigeria –Islamic scholar

An Islamic scholar and founder of Shafaudeen’L Islam Worldwide, Prof. Sabit Olagoke, on Friday said “restructuring of Nigeria is the only way to avoid break-up.”

He said this in Ibadan while addressing a press conference on the Shafaudeen’L Islam Fidunya Wal’akhirat annual International Convention’Ishrat 2020 at the Oyo state NUJ Press Centre in Ibadan.

He said it was glaring that with the agitations and calls for secession by some sections of the country, “it is now time for restructuring of Nigeria to address all the grey areas.”

“If federal government considers the issue of restructuring of Nigeria, I can tell you that those agitating for secession in some parts of the country will definitely drop it. If we are not going to disintegrate, what are the antidotes? That is why we need restructuring,” he said.

Olagoke said “if we fail to make restructuring materialise in the country, it may not augur well for us all as there are series of imbalances in the nation’s system,’ adding, “Look at how much a senator collecting. We can’t continue to suffer in the midst of plenty.”
