Nyanya residents, police partner on crime prevention

Residents of Nyanya, a suburb of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) have vowed to complement the efforts of the police with a view to bringing the rate of crimes to the barest minimums in the area.

A community leader, Mr. Gabriel John, called on parents and guardians to warn their children against engaging in cultism just as he applauded the newly posted DPO, CSP Alhassan Majia for the strategy deployed to eradicating the menace of cult-related activities in Nyany area.

He equally tasked members of the public to regard crime fighting and control as a collective responsibility, saying the police had crippled the One-Chance syndicate phenomenon as well as touts extorting money from motorists on the highway.

Also contributing, a commercial driver, Tanimu Baba, charged the police to sustain collaboration with sister-agencies to decongest traffic along Nyanya axis, especially during the peak hours.

He praised patrol officers of the division for tackling wrong parking along the highway as well as preventing traders selling goods on the road shoulders.

On his part, a member of Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Andrew James said the crime rate has reduced drastically in Nyanya and environs due to raiding of black spots and criminal hideouts.

When contacted, the DPO in charge of Nyanya, CSP Alhassan Majia, appreciated the residents for assisting the division to refurbish one of their grounded patrol vehicles.
