NUC grants MAUTECH approval to commence degree in medicine

The management of the university has put machinery on ground to ensure the immediate take off of the programme by designated the newly central laboratories as well. As a complex to serve as offices and lectures theatres for the newly approved programme while, efforts is also been made to appoint a provost for the new college.

This is in compliance with NUC directive which enjoyed the management of the university to provide adequate human and material resources for  takeoff, development and growth of the approved programme.

This efforts by the university is contained in a press statement made available to journalists in Yola at the weekend signed by the university information officer, Mallam Aminu Gurumpawo who explained that, the university community and stakeholders in Adamawa education sector received the news of this approval  with excitement and satisfactions.

According to him, this development is coming at a right time when efforts have reach an advance stage to convert the university from a specialised university to a multi disciplinary institution that will allow expansion of its programmes into courses in arts and humanities, social sciences, law among others which the university desperately needed to address low human development index of the North East region.”

It would be recalled that the federal government through a letter from the office of the executive secretary of NUC, Professor Abubakar Rasheed  recently granted approval  to MAUTECH to commence admission of students  into medicine and surgery in 2020/2021 academic session.

Blueprint gathered that the bill for the conversion of MAUTECH to conventional university, which has been passed into law by the Senate, is currently before the House of Representatives for concurrence.
