NSCDC nabs fleeing suspected kidnapper in kwara

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kwara state command has arrested a fleeing 40-year-old Boodo Abdullahi over alleged kidnapping and killing of an 80-year-old Alhaji Abba in Eruwa Oyo state.

The NSCDC said Abdullahi is a suspected member of kidnap gang, who allegedly abducted their victim, Alhaji Abba, collected ransome and killed him in Eruwa Oyo state. 

Spokesman of the Kwara state Command of the NSCDC , Olasunkanmi Ayeni while parading the suspect at the command’ s headquarters in Ilorin said, Abdullahi was arrested in Bani, kaiama local government area of Kwara state following “a shared intelligence information with sister security agencies.”

Ayeni said the Police in Oyo state had already arrested three of the suspects over the alleged crime. 

He said the case was reported at the Oyo state division of the Nigeria police following which a manhurnt was launched leading to the arrest of three suspects while Abdullahi fled to Banni area of kaiama in Kwara state. 

Ayeni alleged that the fleing Abdullahi is an ex -convict and serial offender before he was re-arrested in Banni in kaiama by NSCDC operatives.

“The case was reported in Oyo state division of the police , it happend in a town called Eruwa in Oyo state .Three of the suspects were arrested, it was a case of kidnapping, ransome was requested from the family, after paying the ransom the victim was killed,” he said.

The NSCDC spokesman said efforts were on to arrest the remaining fleeing suspects.

He maintained that the victim had earlier reported the suspect Boodo Abdullah to one Alhaji Isiaka of the possibility of his kidnap.

Ayeni said the suspect will be transferred to Oyo state as soon as Investigations are concluded for prosecution.

When asked, the suspect, admitted that the victim had earlier reported him to Alhaji Isiaka over suspicion of being kidnapped.

He denied being involved in the crime.

He said his imprisonment at Agodi prion in Oyo state was based on alleged misrepresentation by his brother who killed his friend.

He called on the security agencies to ensure proper investigations into the matter before concluding on his prosecution.

Boodo who claimed to be a farmer and cattle rearer said he only travelled to visit  his uncle in Kaiama in Kwara state, where he was arrested.
