Transport minister commissions ultra-modern Gombe motor park

The Minister of Transportation, Senator Said Ahmed Alkali, has commissioned the ultra-modern Gombe state mega MotorPark.

In his remarks, the minister said the park is truly unique and remarkable within the Nigerian transportation sector and it points the way for other states to follow.

He said he closely followed the development of this facility, “not only because I am an indigene of the state with a genuine interest in the development of the state, but also because by virtue of my office, I am constantly on the look-out for new models of transport infrastructure development which will not only enhance the state of our transportation infrastructure as a nation, but will serve to promote social inclusion and national unity through smooth and seamless travels from one part of the country to another. “

He said there is no doubt that the more the people can travel smoothly and in comfort, the more united as a country we shall be.

” When His Excellency first took office as Governor of our dear State in 2019, I recall that a major promise he made was to radically transform the infrastructural landscape of the State by completing on-going projects and initiating and constructing new ones.

” In pursuing this objective, he chose to build on the legacy of the previous Governors of the State in the area of infrastructural development.

“The result of the tenacity, doggedness and vision with which he has pursued this objective is what we are witnessing today, as Gombe state progressively wears the look of a peaceful, modern, accessible and prosperous State to the admiration of both residents and visitors to the State. Gradually, we are therefore approaching the vision of the founding fathers of the State which was to build a State that will be the Centre of development in the North-East region of Nigeria and indeed become a destination of choice for both investors and tourists, among others.”

He said the development of a modern, safe, secure and sustainable transportation network is a priority of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He said in the road sector, government is equally pursuing extensive initiatives to ease road travel within Nigeria such as the proposed CNG conversion programmes for vehicles on our roads as well as the continuous enhancement of security on our road corridors in order to restore road travel to its pride of place.

“Our vision is to partner with State Governments and private sector operators to create a seamless network of road and rail infrastructure for the benefit of all our people.

” In furtherance of this initiative, I have directed the DG of Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) to liaise with the Gombe State Government to establish CNG conversion Centre in Gombe with immediate effect.

” Mega Motor Park is therefore a creative and timely addition to the State’s infrastructural masterplan and once more demonstrates Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s record of delivering life-changing and progressive projects since he assumed office in 2019,”he said.
