NSCDC arrests 3 water pumps ‘thieves’ in Maiduguri

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC)  Borno state command, has arrested three suspects who allegedly specialised in stealing submersible water pumps around Mulai Primary School and Peace FM areas.
A statement signed by the commands’ Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Bulus

James, named the suspects as Mohammed M. Bulama, 28; Abdullahi Mohammed, 28 and Ali Baba, 19 who have confessed that “they do monitor their victims closely to know when they were away and take advantage of their absence to perpetrate their evil act”.
He further said that they took advantage of the quiet environment and darkness to loot public property and sell them to buy Indian Hem, hard drugs and other toxic substances.

The PRO said they also confessed that they have been operating for over four years in the state, saying investigations revealed that the suspects had stolen over 20 pumps from different houses and block industries around the said area.
“One of the suspects said they sold the pumps to one Ibrahim Audu, around customs area along Gomboru market, who buy the pumps at the cost of N7, 000 who later sold to his prospective customers between N15,000  and N21,000.
So far, he said, NSCDC had recovered nine submersible water pumps from the suspects and  both the suspects and their accomplices at Gamboru Market were on bail while investigation was still going on.
