NPFL: Rivers United extend unbeaten run, Rangers, Dakkada win away

Rivers United on Sunday won their third straight game of the new NPFL season, just as Enugu Rangers and Dakkada won on the road against Jigawa Golden Stars and FC Ifeanyiubah, respectively.


There were also home wins for MFM FC, Lobi Stars, Katsina United, Enyimba and Plateau United, while Kano Pillars were forced to a draw at Nasarawa United.
Rivers United have extended their form in the CAF Confederation Cup after they stopped Kwara United courtesy of first-half goals by Ifeanyi Anaemena, Godwin Aguda and a penalty goal by Chika Godwin at the death.


A first-half strike by Nnamdi Mejuobi handed Dakkada the full points at FC Ifeanyiubah, while Israel Abia’s 79th minute goal was the match winner for Rangers at Jigawa Golden Stars.


Rasheed Ahmed scored in either half to give Katsina United their second win of the season at the expense of struggling Adamawa United.
Heartland were again on the losing side after Plateau United defeated them 3-0 in Jos.


MFM won the Southwest derby against Sunshine Stars 1-0, Enyimba stopped Wikki Tourists as Lobi Stars smashed past Warri Wolves 3-0.
