NPFL: Lobi tie is a must win – Oke

Enyimba’s Oke Ogagatewho has acknowledged the importance of victory in today’s meeting with league leaders Lobi Stars.

The experienced defender, who made his league debut only this past weekend, also spoke on his experience since joining the club, appraised his performance in the 4-3 loss to Nasarawa United in Lafia, and talked about the team’s aspirations for the rest of the season.

“For seven months, I had not played competitive football,” he said.

“My first game in Lafia was not so bad, but I knew it would be challenging because, for one, I was playing in a position I am not used to, and secondly, it was my first game. So it was really tough for me.”

On the freak nature of his debut, which witnessed seven goals and plenty of goalmouth action, he was philosophical.

“It was an amazing game, very memorable. We just have to give all thanks to God [in spite of the result].

“But, as a team, our aim is to be crowned champions. We don’t want to simply partake. With hard work and determination, we believe it’s not over, up until the end of the season. We will keep fighting and working hard.”

The two-time African champions will get a chance to make things right in midweek, as runaway table toppers Lobi Stars come calling at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar.
