NPFL: Lobi ‘ll secure continental target during Super 6 – Iorfa

Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lobi Stars FC Dominic Iorfa Monday has expressed confidence that his wards are prepared and battle ready to participate in the Super 6 after securing the slot in the just concluded abridged Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The Super 6 will determine the country’s representatives in the CAF Champions league and the Confederation Cup the top three teams in the Super 6 will go to the continent.



Iorfa also congratulated the management, players the Benue state government, which the sponsor of Lobi Stars FC and all supporters for standing with the club during the abridged NPFL.



Iorfa in a statement Monday also threw light on why the team did not feature all it’s best players in the match against Wikki Tourists FC, saying they rested their players to prepare for the next 2 critical matches.



According to him, though they lost, they were already in the Super 6 and will achieve their feat when they get there.



“Some people may be wondering why we rested our regular starting 11. We have 2 crucial games coming up in the next 5 days, the round of 16 and round of 8 of the Federation Cup, which comes of on the 24th and 28th respectively.



“We are aiming to book our place in the semi finals of the Federation Cup which is more important than the Wikki Tourist match that was meaningless to us.



“We have more than 30 players registered to participate in the NPFL and we have to give chances to other players to see if they can challenge for first team shirt.



“So the team is in good shape and good to go. About our match against Wikki Tourists, the only regular in the team was Moses Tsehuan who is recovering from injury after been laid off off for almost a month and he did well.



“We gave the young goalkeeper Orya Joseph,  a chance to see his progress and he made some marvelous saves in the first half, but football at times  is like that. “Its a learning process for him as a young goalkeeper,” he added.
