Niger state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, has charged his new commissioners to hit the ground running, insisting that there was no room for incompetence and idleness.
The governor gave the charge yesterday while swearing in 14 new commissioners adding that there was enormous work to be done in tune with the change mantra.
He stated that lots of consultations were made in constituting a viable cabinet in under not to short changed the people in delivery dividends of democracy.
He said the administration was focused on pursuit of goals to bring development to the state, adding that the new commissioners must quickly key into the development agenda.
“We must work hard to justify the trust given to me by the people that elected me as governor to serve them better,” he said.
He urged the commissioners to ensure that they carried along all the people in distribution of dividends of democracy in the state.
“You must view this call to service as a golden privilege to contribute your quota towards the development of our dear state. There is no honour in holding office when you cannot be change agent. This administration maintains its zero tolerance for corruption and as such there will be no sacred cows.”
Jonathan Vatsa was named commissioner for information, culture and tourism, Abubakar Azozo in charge of water and dams development, while Aliyu Abubakar Abdullahi became commissioner for agriculture.
Others are Fatima Madugu in charge of education, Dr. Mustapha Jibrin as health and human services and Mamman Bosso as commissioner for youths and sport development.
