NMCF@40: CDS tasks clerics on nation’s security challenges

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has charged Nigerians, especially clerics, to be more proactive in discharging their individual and collective responsibilities as citizens of the nation.

Speaking at the year book launch and day two of the Nigerian Military Christian Fellowship (NMCF’s) 40 years anniversary, Saturday, in Abuja, the CDS said, considering the Easter celebration and Jesus’ sacrifice for humanity, there was the need for Nigerians to be confident that every challenge faced as a nation would pass away.

“We need everybody to be on board, cooperating with the security personnel, the churches and mosques especially. All the church leaders must come together as Nigerians to take ownership of the challenges we are going through, and through prayers God Almighty will give us victory.

“We all know that 40 years isn’t a joke. So we as a force will continue to go higher; and as the saying goes, life begins at 40. We just want to call on every one to give their support so that we will continue to grow,” he added.

National President NMCF, Air Vice Marshal Christian Tsaro in his welcome address, said the anniversary was an opportunity to reflect on God’s faithfulness. “It is to also inspire us to seek God’s face for guidance on how to continue to propagate the gospel of Christ among members of the Military and Paramilitary of our great and dear country Nigeria.

“As we look back we realise that God has, indeed, been good to us and has made room for us in this land. It is also an assurance to us that going forward we would prosper. Therefore, we all, and especially the leadership, must tarry in God’s presence and seek his face for the strategies to order this child that was born 40 years ago so that it blossoms and attains its full potentials.

“I am persuaded that in the course of this convention, God will begin to give us the wisdom we need going forward,” he said.
