Nimrod donates equipment to states, hails breakdance demonstration

President of Nigerian Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engr. Musa Nimrod has donated balls for beach and indoor volleyball, nets and other equipment to the seven North-West states to boost the development of to he game.

Engr. Nimrod equally extolled the potentials of breakdance as a sports, as a tool for youth development and as a tool to drive youth away from crime and vices to sports, while tasking the Nigerian Breakdance Federation led by Daniel Amokachie to strive hard to ensure that the breakdance sports move from being a demonstration game to a National Sports Festival (NSF) game.

Presenting the items, worth millions of naira, to the sports directors at the volleyball court of Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna during the (NSF) North-West Zonal Elimination in Kaduna Engr. Nimrod, appealed to the states to ensure the equipment is optimally utilized to develop the game in the zone. Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto and Zamfara states benefited from the gesture.

“The essence of the donation of these balls is for the development of the game of beach and indoor volleyball in the North-West Zone. We want to improve the game and I want to appreciate God that our zone is producing talented young players, hence the need for this support to see more improvement.

“We are indeed seeing the dividend of what we are doing, see now Kaduna state has two premier league teams, male and female, which is good for volleyball and that is what we envisage for other states in the zones who do not have league teams yet.

“My concern now is how to maintain being under-19 African champions, after three consecutive wins back to back. Can we maintain it, that is the most important thing now, that’s why we are taking the game to grassroots so that we can discover more talents and nurture them for the continental assignment, hence today’s ceremony is very important.”

The breakdance sports was demonstrated at the North-West Zonal Elimination with the hope that the Olympics game will debut in the National Sports Festival in the next edition.
