Niger Delta groups back Akpabio, Adimula

Interests groups from Niger Delta region on Monday threw their weight behind Senator Godswill Akpabio’s presidency of the 10th Senate and principalship of Dr Henry Adimula at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun in Delta state.

Specifically, while the Niger Delta Stakeholders’s Council at a press conference held in Abuja, called on all serving senators to continue supporting Akpabio’s leadership, the Niger Delta Social Justice Forum, sought renewal of appointment for Dr Henry Adimula as principal of PTI.

The Niger Delta Stakeholders Council at the press conference addressed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Ediri Omorowa said any thought of impeachment proceedings against Akpabio in the Senate, should be perished as he had shown purposeful leadership anchored on harmonious working relationship with the executive arm of government.

He said: “We the Niger Delta Stakeholders Council appealed to all stakeholders in the country and our legislators from the Northern and Southern parts of this country, to continue supporting  and working  together with His Excellency, Senator Godswill Akpabio  and by extension, the National Assembly as a team, so that Nigeria can grow better.

“We have full confidence that under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Godswill Akpabio, the legislature will be significantly strengthened to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities and also serve as a beacon of hope and progress for Nigeria.

“The development-driven collaboration between the National Assembly led Akpabio and Speaker Tajudeen Abbas of the House of Representatives, will surely transform Nigeria positively under President Bola Tinubu’s Presidency “

The Niger Delta Social Justice Forum (NDSJF), in a jointly signed statement by its National Coordinator, Don Regal Douglas and National Secretary, Ebi Monday, kicked against move by some people to block appointment renewal of Dr Henry Adimula as principal of PTI on sentimental grounds.

The group explained in the statement that a letter for renewal of Adimula’s appointment, has been written by it and forwarded to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum, NNPC Towers, Abuja.

Part of the letter made available to newsmen read: “Dr. Henry A. Adimula, the current Principal of Petroleum Training Institute , Effurun, has performed extraordinarily well within the last few years  of his Principalship of the Institute and deserves appointment renewal or tenure elongation”.
