NDE breeds new cosmetologists

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has empowered 50 women drawn from various communities in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), with skill acquisition in cosmetology.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 6-Day programme held inside
the NDE-FCT training hall, in Wuse, the director general NDE, Mallam Abubakar Mohammed, who was represented by the NDE-FCT Coordinator, Lady Edna Ofordile, said the training was aimed at unlocking the abilities of the participants and re-channels their disposition towards entrepreneurship and self employment.
Mohammed pointed out that in the final stages of the training the participants would be instructed in the art of starting and successfully running a small business through the Basic Business Training (BBT) to be anchored by the Small Scale Enterprise Department.
He urged the women to take full advantage of the scheme to excel so as to immediately put the knowledge practically into use as the cosmetics can be produced within the confirms of their respective homes.
The scheme, which is under the auspices of the Women Employment Branch (WEB), focuses on skills training in services and regular household products ranging from body-cream, hair conditioner, disinfectants, bleach, Izal, solid and liquid soaps that can be mastered in a short time.
Speaking on behalf of the 50 participants, Miss Chidinma Okeke, commended the NDE management for the opportunity with a promise to use the knowledge acquired to combat unemployment and impact the skills on others.
