Nasarawa youth call for establishment of development commission

The coalition of youths groups in Nasarawa state Wednesday, called for the establishment of a youth development commission with a special budgetary allocation as part of steps towards youth engagement in governance.

State chairman National Youth Council of Nigeria, Mr Idris Ojoko made the called during a peaceful rally in Lafia to mark the end of a five day programme in commemoration of the 1st national youth day 2029.

The group said the commission will serve as a template for youths to showcase their potentials and be fully involved in governance.

Mr. Ojoko also called for adequate budgetary allocation to the youth sector as well as efficient involvement of youths in its implementation.

He stressed the need for the state government to continue to engage youths to discuss and address critical issues affecting the youths.

He equally implore government to provide monthly stipend for youth organizations as running cost to boost their activities,

Nasarawa state deputy governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe who addressed the youths on behalf of Governor Abdullahi Sule commended them for conducting themselves peacefully to present their demands.

He said the government would support every genuine initiative by the youths aimed at moving the state forward.
